Halloween Books for Little Readers
I don't know about you, but my students love this time of the year. If I'm being honest it's also my favorite. I love reading 'spooky' stories with my students. We always dim the lights during read aloud time for an extra spooky effect. Lol.
I'm going to share my top favorites with you, I'm sure your littles will love them just as much as we do.
I Need My Monster by Amanda Knoll
This book is the cutest and a favorite every year. It also has an award winning short on Youtube that my students always love. It's about a little boy, Ethan, who is very particular about his monster substitute. I'm sure your little one will ask you to read this one over and over again.
2. Dem Bones
This book accompanies the classic song and is great for teaching your little one about their body. You could also use some q-tips and black construction paper for a fun craft.
3. Creepy Carrots
I think I love this one more than my students. I find myself wanting to read this one first every year, it never fails. Jasper keeps sneaking carrots from the garden and eating them. Read to find out what happens when the carrots team up to stop him.
4. Crankenstein by Samantha Berger
This story is about a little boy that is cranky all the time. Read to find out what happens when Crankenstein makes a friend.
5. Room on the Broom by Juila Donaldson
This book is the perfect Halloween fave for introducing rhyming. I also like to use it when I'm teaching the 'oo' sound. My students love guessing what animal is going to ride on the broom next.
6. Substitute Creacher by Chris Gall
This book is the perfect book for teaching about making smart choices. Every time I read this book to my students, the room gets silent. I mean you can hear a pin drop. They love it every year and its great for introducing retelling to your littles too.
I hope that you enjoy these books as much as I do.
Thanks for reading.
